Fire Department to Conduct Hydrant Flushing

The City of Bay Minette Fire Department (BMFD) will be flushing fire hydrants beginning Mon., Oct. 27 and will continue throughout November.

Flushing maintains water quality and cleans water lines of sediment and other residue that may have accumulated over time. It also insures all of the City’s fire hydrants are in proper working order.

Although very beneficial to residents, flushing may temporarily cause low water pressure and water discoloration. While displeasing in appearance, this does not indicate the water is unsafe. As an extra precaution, please run water from your tap until clear before drinking or using it to cook. Since discolored water may cause staining, please refrain from doing laundry until the water is clear.

Flushing will only take place within the City of Bay Minette Police jurisdiction. For a map of the areas to be flushed, please visit www.northbaldwinutilities.com. For any further information, issues or concerns, please contact the BMFD at 580-2552.

North Baldwin Utilities and the City of Bay Minette thank everyone in advance for their cooperation and apologize for any inconvenience residents may experience due to the scheduled flushings.
