NBU Wastewater Rate Increase Effective May 1
In response to the increasing costs of providing reliable wastewater services, North Baldwin Utilities (NBU) has scheduled a modest rate increase for all wastewater customers effective May 1.
The monthly minimum wastewater bill for residential customers will be $13 for up to 3,000 gallons used (based upon metered water usage) and $3.50 for each additional 1,000 gallons over the minimum allowance. A typical residential customer who uses 5,000 gallons of water per month will see a $20 bill. The flat sewer rate will be $31 per month.
Commercial, food service and industrial customer rate minimums will be $17 monthly for up to 2,000 gallons used and $4.50 for each additional 1,000 gallons over the minimum allowance.
“NBU regrets the necessity for this rate adjustment and will continue to manage our operations so as to enhance efficiency.” said NBU General Manger Jason Padgett. “In our efforts to assure the fiscal integrity of each of our utility systems, we are pleased to be able to maintain our current rates in all but the wastewater system.”
NBU provides water, wastewater and natural gas services in the greater North Baldwin community. It maintains compliance with all regulatory requirements while striving to provide both reliable and cost-effective services to customers. As each customer is not a user of all offered utility services, NBU makes every effort to assure each utility service is offered in a fiscally sound manner.
