Bay Minette Fire Department to Conduct Hydrant Flushing

The City of Bay Minette Fire Department (BMFD) will be flushing fire hydrants in the north district of Bay Minette beginning Monday, July 19 and will continue throughout the week.

Flushing maintains water quality and cleans water lines of sediment and other residue that may have accumulated over time. It also insures all of the City’s fire hydrants are in proper working order.

Although very beneficial to residents, flushing may temporarily cause low water pressure and water discoloration. While displeasing in appearance, this does not indicate the water is unsafe. As an extra precaution, please run water from your tap until clear before drinking or using it to cook. Since discolored water may cause staining, please refrain from doing laundry until the water is clear.

For additional information, issues or concerns, please contact Mike Minchew, BMFD, at (251) 580-2552.

North Baldwin Utilities and the City of Bay Minette thank everyone in advance for their cooperation and apologize for any inconvenience residents may experience due to the scheduled flushings.
